Firm Foundation - The Mission

Pastor Henry reminds us of Jesus’ great commission from Matthew 28:18-20 and how all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Him. Through scripture we see how the Holy Spirit leads us to be bold and obedient in sharing the gospel. Be encouraged to step out with faith, to hear the Spirit’s prompting, and to trust that God is already at work in the hearts of those we’re sent to. Know that the Holy Spirit is guiding your steps and preparing the way for divine encounters.

Firm Foundations - Faith and Hope

Pastor JR explores the question of personal faith, what it means to truly be a Christian, and whether someone can be born into faith or come to it intentionally.  Being a Christian isn't about being born into a tradition, it's about choosing to believe and follow Jesus for yourself. Even when we wrestle with doubts, God is not threatened by our searching.  Can you deepen your relationship with God and make your faith more resilient?

Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. For by it the people of old received their commendation. By faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of God, so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible. - Hebrews 11:1-3 (ESV)

Firm Foundations - Biblical Prosperity

This week Pastor JR focuses on biblical prosperity and generosity. Remember God is the source of all provision, not our own strength or achievements. Remember the Lord in times of blessing and sow generously, trusting God to provide both seed and harvest. Generosity reflects God's character and leads to thanksgiving and praise. 

 

The point is this: whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully will also reap bountifully.  Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.  And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work. - 2 Corinthians 9:6-8 (ESV)

Firm Foundations - Spiritual Family and Church Life

This week, Pastor Henry encourages that God's grace empowers us to live differently. As we walk through life, we are called not just to believe, but to fully engage with His Word, allowing it to transform how we think, speak, and act. No matter what challenges arise, we have the assurance that God’s presence is with us and that His promises remain true. Keep your heart open to His leading, stay connected to His truth, and remember: every step of obedience brings life, strength, and the joy of growing closer to Him.

For the promise is for you and for your children and for all who are far off, everyone whom the Lord our God calls to himself.” And with many other words he bore witness and continued to exhort them, saying, “Save yourselves from this crooked generation.”So those who received his word were baptized, and there were added that day about three thousand souls. - Acts 2:39-41 (ESV)

Firm Foundations - Resurrection and Judgement

Pastor JR reminds us to start our week grounded.  Jesus walked the path of suffering and resurrection, and His Word continues to lead us. God’s Word and prayer anchors us in truth and prepares us to understand and follow the path Jesus walked, even through suffering and into resurrection. Remember that Jesus knew the road ahead and His journey through suffering to resurrection was intentional. 

From that time Jesus began to show his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and on the third day be raised. And Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him, saying, “Far be it from you, Lord! This shall never happen to you.” But he turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a hindrance to me. For you are not setting your mind on the things of God, but on the things of man.” - Matthew 16:21-23 (ESV)

Good Friday

In this special Good Friday message, Pastor Henry reminds us that Jesus has already won the victory—it is finished. No matter what burdens you’re carrying from your personal life, your family, or your workplace, you are not alone. As you go through your week, hold onto the truth that in gathering together and seeking Him, there is comfort, strength, and the assurance that He has already overcome on your behalf.

 

Then the governor’s soldiers took Jesus into the Praetorium and gathered the whole company of soldiers around him.  They stripped him and put a scarlet robe on him,  and then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on his head. They put a staff in his right hand. Then they knelt in front of him and mocked him. “Hail, king of the Jews!” they said.  They spit on him, and took the staff and struck him on the head again and again.  After they had mocked him, they took off the robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him away to crucify him. - Matthew 27:27-31 (NIV)

Firm Foundations - Prayer and Spiritual Disciplines

Your Heavenly Father sees what is done in secret and rewards you openly. So whether you're facing a challenge or walking through everyday routines, let your acts of faith and love come from a place of genuine devotion. Trust that God is at work in the unseen, shaping your heart and strengthening your spirit. 

“And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward. But when you pray, go into your room and shut the door and pray to your Father who is in secret. And your Father who sees in secret will reward you. - Matthew 6:5-6 (ESV)

Firm Foundations - Discipleship and Leadership Development

This week Pastor Henry reminds us that true leadership and discipleship aren’t about seeking status or recognition, but about walking in humility and serving others with a heart like Jesus. In a world that often chases titles and positions, Jesus invites us to lead by laying down our pride and picking up the posture of a servant. Whether at work, home, or in your community, know that every act of service—big or small—has eternal value when done with love and obedience.

But Jesus called them to him and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. It shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant, and whoever would be first among you must be your slave, even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” - Matthew 20:25-28 (ESV)

Firm Foundations - God's Word and Spiritual Hunger

This week Pastor JR reminds us no matter how busy or distracted life gets, God’s word remains our firm foundation. Jesus reminds us that if we love Him, we will keep His word, and through that, He makes His home in us. Like any relationship, our love for God grows through time spent with Him.  So press in, abide in His word, and let His truth shape your life. His love for you is constant, and His word is alive—guiding, strengthening, and drawing you closer to Him every step of the way.

All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. - 2 Timothy 16-17 (ESV)

Firm Foundations - Holy Spirit

This week Pastor Henry reminds us we are not alone when faced with challenges. The Holy Spirit is with us—guiding, empowering, and strengthening us. You have been given unique gifts, not just for yourself, but to bless and uplift those around you. Lean into His presence, trust in His wisdom, and allow Him to work through you in every situation. 

Therefore I want you to understand that no one speaking in the Spirit of God ever says “Jesus is accursed!” and no one can say “Jesus is Lord” except in the Holy Spirit. Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit; and there are varieties of service, but the same Lord; and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. - 1 Corinthians 12:2-6 (ESV)
